Eat, Pray, Love Review

March 6, 2012 in Book Reviews, Reviews

I know I’m a bit late on the Eat, Pray, Love bandwagon! I finally got around to reading it after only seeing the movie. What a gem of a book! It is ridiculously entertaining and insightful I feel like I should read it ten times over – I probably will.

Elizabeth Gilbert did such an amazing job telling her story of putting herself back together after a rough divorce and intense depression. She has such witty humor and I savored the priceless dialogue. The movie was great but the book goes so much deeper into everything – especially spirituality.

I loved and got a lot out of her experience with meditation, mostly in the India chapter. It gave me ideas and inspirations on how to get more into meditation which I’m thankful for. I learned quite a bit about how and where to start meditating, and also what I’m looking for, by reading Elizabeth’s spiritual journey.

She goes deeply into the culture of Italy, India, and Indonesia, which was so interesting to read about – yet another wonderful aspect of this story.

This is such a well written, perfectly executed book! If you haven’t read it I highly recommend doing so, it will leave you laughing and with some great spiritual insights. I couldn’t stop reading late one night that my eyes started hurting!
